What are the dates?
Christmas Tree Wonderland starts 15 November 2024 until 31 December 2024.
How much does it cost?
It’s free with separate charges for SKATE Ice Rink and some other attractions like the Santa Express Train. Certain attractions can get fully booked during peak times, so we recommend that you book in advance on the website where possible.- Please book your ice skating tickets here
Will there be a Santa’s Grotto at Christmas Tree Wonderland?
Santa Claus is coming to town!
On 6, 9 and 10 December, you can find him at the Russell Cotes Art Gallery and Museum, in the beautifully decorated Dining Room, but remember to book first here!
You can also enjoy a breakfast with him at Key West on Bournemouth Pier on 9, 16, 17 and 23 December, book here.
If he’s got the time during his busy schedule, he may also be appearing elsewhere, so we’ll check with him and will update this website when we know more!
Should I buy illuminated novelties from the pedlars at Christmas Tree Wonderland?
Festive message from the busy Christmas Tree Wonderland elves* please be aware of pedlars operating throughout Christmas Tree Wonderland, although they may look pretty, the illuminations being sold are not official merchandise. Similar products have found to be unsafe elsewhere in the UK and should you choose to buy, please check the quality before giving them to your munchkins!
Is Christmas Tree Wonderland wheelchair friendly?
Yes – the trail runs from Horseshoe Common to the Triangle, the Square, then through our Lower Gardens and down to the seafront which is wheelchair friendly. See separate websites for individual attractions, e.g. SKATE.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, dogs are allowed as long as they are on a lead. The trail runs from Horseshoe Common to the Triangle, through our Lower Gardens and down to the seafront. Please note that the festival involves noise, lights and pyrotechnics.
How can I locate my lost property?
For lost property queries, please go to the Tourist Information Centre at Pier Approach, Bournemouth Seafront.
Where can I hire a mobility scooter?
You hire mobility scooters from G E Bridge & Co, 123-125 Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, BH1 1EP. Call 08000 151102 or visit www.bl-care.com for more information.
Is there free parking?
There is no free parking this year.
What time does the Alpine Market open?
The Alpine Market is open every day 11am- until late.

Are Bournemouth christmas lights on this year?
Yes, Christmas Tree Wonderland and it’s lights are returning for 2023.
Is there a Christmas switch-on?
We’re not having a grand switch on event this year, instead the lights will be turned on at some point throughout the day on Friday 17 November.
What public transport facilities are available?
We have a number of regular bus services available across the conurbation as well as regular train services into Bournemouth town centre – a short walk to the start of the Christmas Tree Wonderland trail. Courtesy of our partners at South Western Railway you can travel to the festive illuminations sustainably.
What if the weather is too wintry at Christmas Tree Wonderland?
Christmas Tree Wonderland is an outdoor event so make sure you dress appropriately as we open in rain, snow or shine!
Skate operates in all but the most extreme weather conditions. Please check with them directly in such circumstances.
Is Christmas Tree Wonderland impacted by the rising energy costs?
Like anyone, we’re concerned about the rising energy costs, but all the lights used in the festive installations use the lowest level of energy consumption. In a bid to make Christmas Tree Wonderland more sustainable, we’re currently working with the lighting contractors to look at the ways we can reduce consumption further.
Where can I park?
You can find car parks and view all the parking information by visiting the BCP Council parking page.
Please note there are BCP road works on the A338 from November 14th 2022 for 3 weeks which affect access to Richmond Gardens car park, queuing is likely. Please plan ahead before you travel and use alternative carparks where possible.
Can I get to Christmas Tree Wonderland by bus?
Yes you can, Morebus provide fast and convenient routes straight into Bournemouth Town Centre and the coastal villages. Plan your festive journey here
What time do the illuminations turn on each day?
The Christmas lights are on from 11am to 11pm.
What’s happening at the Triangle & Horseshoe Common?
Details are being finalised by the elves and we will update this FAQ as soon as we can.
What’s happening in Boscombe, Southbourne and Westbourne?
In addition to all of the illuminations for Christmas Tree Wonderland, the coastal villages like to go festive!
The elves are still finalising the details.

What facilities do you have for babies?
Most of Christmas Tree Wonderland is flat and level for buggies. There are also baby changing facilities at various disabled toilets situated around the site.

Who are the investors?
Bournemouth’s Coastal BID & Town Centre BID (Business Improvement District) and BCP Council with sponsorship from South Western Railway.
Where will the Bournemouth Wonderland Tree be located?
The walkthrough 60ft Bournemouth Wonderland Tree will be in the centre of the Lower Gardens.
What about the popular Alpine bar?
In addition to the trail, there’s an Alpine Village with Christmas Markets where you can buy that all-important present, enjoy festive treats and nibbles and take in the atmosphere at the popular Alpine bar.
How do I book the Santa Express Train?
Please pay on arrival.
How much is the Santa Express Train and what are the opening times?
This is a paid for attraction (£4 per person, family ticket available) and open on school days: 2 pm – 9pm & on weekends and school holidays: 10.30 am -10pm
